Fort Missoula was commissioned in 1877. Over time it has served as an outpost fort, housed soldiers who fought native americans in the western territories, been a processing point for soldiers in WW I, and in WW II served as an internment camp for Japanese Americans who were taken from their communities and imprisoned during the war. All of this history is betrayed by the stately presence in the late evening sun against the wonderful Montana sky.
